Our After School Program is designed for working parents who are looking for a warm, nurturing environment and easy transition for their children from school to after school. Our goal is to encourage and practice newly learned skills from school while giving children time to socialize, explore the arts and sciences, and to just be kids. Exhibits, performances, parties and lasting friendships help make the after school experience a memorable and happy time.
In co-sponsorship with the Hollywood Golf Institute, our staff of Group Leaders and Group Aides, include community members, parents, aides and college students. We offer an array of quality driven educational, enrichment and recreational activities, and also strive to enhance academic success through parent programs and referrals to other supportive services. We reinforce family relationships and the social values of self-confidence, self-expression, positive peer relationships, responsible behavior and a social commitment to contribute to one's community. We serve children Pre- kindergarten through first grade, Monday through Friday, 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
We provide a safe environment, a snack, daily homework assistance, individual and group counseling, and a diverse menu of recreational and enrichment offerings.
Our After School program provides free pick-up services from local elementary schools. Staff meet participants at their schools and escort them to Bethany/Development Outreach Mt. Morris Plaza. They receive a snack and homework assistance, as well as individual and group counseling, participate in holiday events, special presentations, and trips. After School Services run from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Technology is a part of the everyday learning experience of this generation. In our afterschool homework sessions we integrate the use of computers and online homework help links to the NYC Dept of Education. Our goal is to work collaboratively with schools to provide New York City's public school students with the resources they need to grow into healthy and productive adults.
We offer special holiday programs on public school staff development days, Election Day, half-day holidays and some school vacation breaks (typically President’s Week). Activities vary and may include trips to local parks, museums, and places of interest that make New York so exciting. Children participating in holiday programs must be enrolled in the After School Program.
