Development Outreach, Inc., has designed a mentorship program for disadvantage and at-risk youth. Under the direction of Reverend Vernon Williams, also know as the anti-violence "Pastor on Deck," our program incorporate a number of initiatives that facilitate and guide mentors to focus on their mentee's individual needs. Life Skills Training, Support Group Therapy, Gang and Violence Prevention Group Sessions, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Group Sessions, Financial Literacy, Healthy Lifestyles & Self Esteem, Art and Theater Acting Course are initiatives incorporated into the programs through activities and outside facilitators. Along with completing DOI Mentoring activities, mentors also help their mentees with school work, play games that encourage socialization, provide guidance and advice, and simply listen to their mentee. Every mentee is different and therefore every mentoring relationship looks different, but the reward for both the mentee and mentor is undeniable.
Development Outreach, Inc., relies on support from people like you to disadvantaged and at-risk youth. Your support will provide much needed workshops, hands-on experience and transportation.
Our counseling series entails a number of sessions in Life Skills Training, Support Group Therapy, Gang and Violence Prevention Group Sessions, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Group Sessions, and Guest Speaker Forum Days.
Workshops are given in various software applications, along with the responsible use of social media, resume writing, how to conduct a job search, and how to apply for a job on-line. Youth conduct technology training with seniors.
Theater Acting Course
Youth are trained to act in the live performance of the dramatic play "One Hour To Live." This play is a dramatic production addressing gang related murders. The performance is followed by discussions, and is used as a teaching tool.
College Tours & Retreats
